HisaabWise is a personal-finance app that helps you track your spending and learn about money. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, how it is protected, and the choices and rights you have.
This policy applies to the HisaabWise iOS application and the backend service it connects to (together, "HisaabWise", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account and using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We only collect information that is needed to provide the app's features. You provide most of it directly when you register and use the app.
Account & profile information
- Full name — used as your display name in the app.
- Email address — used as your account identity and to sign you in.
- Password — never stored in readable form; only a secure one-way hash is kept (see Storage & security).
- Phone number — optional. If you provide it, it is stored but is not verified and is not used to contact you at launch.
- Date of birth — used to confirm you meet the minimum age requirement (16+).
- Security questions and answers — used to verify your identity for sensitive actions such as changing your password. Your answers are never stored or transmitted back in readable form; only a secure hash is kept.
Financial information you enter
- Monthly income / salary and your preferred display currency.
- Savings goal.
- Expense entries you add — amount, category, an optional label, and the date.
- Month-end summaries derived from the above.
Learning activity
- Your progress through lessons, quiz results, experience points (XP), and your daily learning streak.
Technical & device information
- Time zone — read from your device so that day boundaries, streaks, and month-end reports are calculated correctly for where you are.
- Preferred language.
2. What we do not collect
To be clear about the boundaries:
- No access to your bank accounts, cards, or financial institutions.
- No location data, camera, photo library, microphone, or contacts.
- No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and no advertising identifiers. The app does not track you across other apps or websites.
- No sale of your personal data — ever.
- No in-app purchases, subscriptions, or payment collection. The app is free.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To provide the app's core features — budgeting, expense tracking, savings goals, and the month-end report.
- To deliver the financial-education lessons and track your progress.
- To calculate dates, streaks, and reports correctly in your time zone.
4. Legal basis & consent
HisaabWise is offered in the United Arab Emirates and is designed to comply with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, "PDPL"). We process your personal data on the basis of:
- Your consent, which you give when you accept this policy at registration; and
- Performance of the service you have asked us to provide — we cannot run your account or the app's features without the information described above.
You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (see Your privacy rights).
5. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share it only in these limited situations:
- Service providers. We use trusted infrastructure providers to host the app's backend and database. They process data only on our instructions and only to run the service. Our current providers include our application hosting platform and a managed cloud database (MongoDB Atlas).
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal request.
- Protecting the service. To detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
6. Storage & security
- Your data is stored on secured servers operated by our hosting and database providers.
- All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- Passwords and security-question answers are protected with a strong one-way hash and are never stored or returned in readable form.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your information.
7. Retention & deletion
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your account is deactivated immediately and sign-in is blocked.
- After 30 days, your personal data is permanently erased.
Some records may be retained longer only where required to comply with legal obligations.
8. Your privacy rights
Under the UAE PDPL, you have the right to:
- Correction — update your profile details in the app at any time.
- Erasure — delete your account and personal data (see above).
- Withdraw consent — by deleting your account.

9. Children's privacy
HisaabWise is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Your data may be processed and stored on servers located outside the United Arab Emirates by our service providers. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your data receives an appropriate level of protection consistent with the PDPL.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of HisaabWise after an update means you accept the revised policy.
